Pick the best 30 seconds of any song
Short answer: The best ringtone section is usually the chorus or a hook people recognise within a second. Start on a beat, skip quiet intros, keep it under 30 seconds, and add a short fade so the loop does not click. RingTrim’s Chorus and Loudest buttons find likely sections for you to fine-tune.
Steps
- Open RingTrim and load the song.
- Tap Chorus or Loudest to jump to a likely section. Tap First 30 s if the song starts strong.
- Use the ±0.1 s buttons on Start until the cut begins exactly on a beat or the first word.
- Turn on Loop and press Play to hear the moment the ringtone wraps around.
- Tap iPhone or Android to save it.
What makes a section work as a ringtone
- It is recognisable from the first second, because a ringtone rarely plays to the end.
- It is loud from the start. A quiet intro is easy to miss in a pocket or a bag.
- It starts on a beat or a word, not halfway through a note.
- Its end sounds acceptable leading back into its start, since the tone loops.
How the Chorus and Loudest buttons decide
Both run on your phone and measure loudness, nothing more. Loudest finds the 30-second stretch with the most energy. Chorus looks for a loud stretch whose loudness pattern repeats elsewhere in the song, which is what a chorus usually does.
They are guesses. A song with a long instrumental build-up or a loud bridge can fool them, so listen before you save.
Fades and the loop point
RingTrim fades the first and last half second by default. That removes the click you hear when a cut lands mid-waveform, and it softens the jump when the tone loops. Switch the fade off if the section already starts and ends cleanly, for example on a drum hit.
Questions
Should a ringtone be the full 30 seconds?
Not necessarily. A tight 15-second hook that loops cleanly often sounds better than 30 seconds that ends mid-phrase.
Is the chorus finder AI?
No. It compares loudness patterns across the song with simple maths on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is learned.
Why does my cut click at the start?
The cut landed partway through a sound wave. Keep the fade switched on, or nudge the start a tenth of a second at a time until the click goes.
